Postal Mail
Get Your PO Box:
Visit the Postal Information section of the base website for instructions on obtaining your PO Box prior to arriving at MCAS Iwakuni. This will allow you to forward your mail before you leave your current residence, to avoid delays in receiving important mail. You can also mail things ahead to yourself so they will be here when you arrive.

Sending Mail from Japan to the US:
Express Mail: 3 working days
Priority Mail: 7 to 10 days
SAM: 2 to 4 weeks
Important Note:
Use of the proper address content and format is essential for efficient, problem free mail service while overseas. Please use the addresses exactly as they are provided to you, and resist the temptation to modify them in any way. Also, tell anyone who is sending you mail – DO NOT PUT “Japan” ON THE ADDRESS, because the stateside post offices get confused sometimes and may charge a much higher “international mail rate.” Additionally, PSC Box holders should never include extraneous information (such as their unit or work section) in their mailing address, as doing so is completely unnecessary and may actually result in misrouting of mail. It is recommended that all your correspondents be informed accordingly.
